Recruitment of Teachers and Staff(the Graduate School of Global Studies)

Limited-Term Contract, Full-Time Faculty (Associate Professor or Professor) at the Graduate School of Global Studies, Doshisha University

The Graduate School of Global Studies at Doshisha University, located in Kyoto, Japan, invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of either Associate Professor or Professor on a five-year, fixed-term contract, beginning April 2018. The applicant must have a doctoral degree or equivalent qualification. He or she must have a good command of both Japanese and English, able to carry out administrative work in Japanese and to teach and communicate effectively in English. The applicant should have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. The candidate’s research should focus on Developmental Studies and/or Development Management. In addition to courses in the candidate’s main areas of research, teaching responsibilities also include Global Economics, Development Finance, Research Methodology, Developmental Studies and International Cooperation as well as Seminars for Master’s level students. The successful applicant may also supervise doctoral students, depending on his or her qualifications. The chosen candidate will be expected to begin the appointment on April 1, 2018, and end on March 31, 2023.

Major publications (no more than 5 publications, 3 copies of each publication, either original or copies).
A brief description of research history and a research proposal in Japanese (2500 Japanese characters) and a translation in English on A4 or letter size paper.

In case interviews are necessary, applicants on the shortlist will be contacted by the middle of October, 2017, and requested to submit relevant syllabi. Interviews will then be conducted shortly after.
