Be cautious of legal drugs, law-evading drugs and herbs
－the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law has been amended since April 1, 2014.－
Hazardous drugs, known variously as ‘legal drugs’, ‘law-evading drugs’ and ‘law-evading herbs’, have been sold on the market recently. These drugs can be as harmful to your health as marijuana and stimulant drugs. They may cause dyspnea, and even death. In addition, they may induce abnormal behavior such as hallucination, which could put the user and those around them in danger. Never be persuaded by the word ‘legal’, or be deceived by the name and appearance of such drugs. You are strongly advised to stay well away from them.
Under the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, amended on April 1, 2014, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare bans the possession, use, purchase and obtaining of such drugs. They are also banned from being imported, manufactured or sold. A person who violates the law shall be punished by imprisonment with work for up to 3 years or a fined up to 3,000,000 yen, or both.
