Doshisha University Scholarships |

Doshisha University offers the following scholarship programs for international full-time students who are paying their own tuition in order to promote international exchange. |

1.
Doshisha University Special Scholarship for International Students Paying their own tuition: |
| |
Type:
Special Scholarship A - Full amount of the tuition fee.
Special Scholarship B - One-half of the tuition fee.
In case a reduced tuition has been offered by MEXT or Doshisha University, this reduction will be taken into account for the Special Scholarship A and B.
Eligibility:
Special Scholarship A:
1) Those with a strong academic record and high level of motivation who intend to study as full time students at Doshisha in an undergraduate or graduate school, and who face difficulties paying tuition.
2) Those who after matriculation acquire a college student visa and who are eligible to apply for the reduced tuition offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
Special Scholarship B:
1) Those with a strong academic record and high level of motivation and who intend to study as full time students at Doshisha in an undergraduate division, and who face difficulties paying tuition.
2) Those who after matriculation acquire a college student visa and who can apply for the reduced tuition offered by MEXT.
Duration of Scholarship Payment:
Payment will be made as follows (however, renewal of payment must be approved each year based on academic and other performance):
Undergraduate students: 4 years
Undergraduate third-year transfer students: 2 years
Master’s program students: 2 years
Doctoral program students: 3 years
Number of Recipients:
Special Scholarship A - No more than 4 persons per year
Special Scholarship B - No more than 8 persons per year
*Students who receive one of these special scholarships cannot apply for the “Doshisha University International Student Scholarship” or the “Doshisha University Graduate School Scholarship” administered by the university’s Student Support Services Department. |

Doshisha University International Student Scholarship |

Eligibility: Regular undergraduate full-time international students.
First year students: 60,000 yen annually
Second year and beyond: 120,000 yen annually
Duration of scholarship payment: One year (renewable)

3.
Doshisha University Graduate School Scholarship |
| |
Eligibility: Eligibility: Regular graduate students
*Students who are enrolled longer than the standard period of study (period of absence will not be included) and students of the Law School and Graduate School of Business are not eligible. Standard period of study is two years for Master’s programs and three years for Doctoral programs.
*Those who receive either Doshisha University Special Scholarship for International Students Paying their own Tuition or a Monbukagakusho Scholarship are not eligible.
Duration of scholarship payment: One year (renewable)
Amount: One-half of the tuition
Selection process: By recommendation of the faculties of the graduate schools. |

4.
Reduced Tuition for Doshisha University International Students Paying their own Tuition |
| |
Students who meet the following conditions of eligibility, and who fulfill Doshisha selection criteria, will get their tuition fees reduced (In 2006 the fees were reduced by 30%.)

*Regular full-time students paying their own tuition who have a college student visa (irrespective of whether the student has international student status at Doshisha or not). |

5.
Doshisha University International Student Subsidy |
| |
Eligibility: Regular full-time undergraduate and graduate students who have a college student visa.
Duration of payment: One year
Amount: 40,000 yen monthly
Number of recipients: No more than 5 persons
Method of application: After entering Doshisha University, applicants need to submit a Scholarship Registration Form to the Center for Japanese Language and Culture. |

6.
Doshisha University Harris Science School Foundation Grant |
| |
Eligibility: Full time (Regular and Special) international students at the Graduate School of Engineering
*Note: Those who were awarded this grant in the previous academic year or those who are recipients of the Kato Yamazaki Memorial Foundation Grant (available to exchange students only) are not eligible.
Amount: To be decided by the Harris Science School Foundation
Number of recipients: Two master’s degree program students (in 2006) |

7.
Doshisha University Ikuei Scholarship |
| |
Eligibility: Regular full-time students (both Japanese and international)
Amount: 300,000 yen (once)
Number of recipients: 100 persons
*Those who are granted another scholarship provided by Doshisha University that is equivalent to one year's tuition are not eligible.

8.
Doshisha University Scholarship for International Students (Students of the Bekka Program) |
| |
Eligibility: Non-exchange students of the Bekka program with excellent academic standing and personality who need financial support to continue their study.
Amount: One-half of the annual tuition
*The scholarship will be awarded in the recipient’s second semester in the Bekka Program, and applied to the second installment of the annual tuition. Number of recipients: No more than 5 persons each semester (subject to change)
Application Period: Mid-July for those who enrolled in April and late January for those who enrolled in September |
