Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies

The Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies (KCJS), which was established in Kyoto in 1989, sponsors a one-year study abroad program for students of 13 prominent American universities. The program provides advanced education and training in Japanese studies and language in the environment that capitalizes on Kyoto’s rich historical and cultural traits. The program also helps students enhance their Japanese language skills through exchanges with host families and the local community.
The participating universities are:
Boston University, Brown University, University of Chicago, Columbia University/Barnard College, Cornell University, Emory University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Stanford University, Washington University in St. Louis, Yale University, and the University of Virginia.
