Doshisha Biwako Retreat Center

A venue for “Christian education and international exchange,” the Biwako Retreat Center was constructed as one of Doshisha’s 125th anniversary commemorative projects. The name “Retreat” reflects the idea of taking sanctuary in natural surrounds for spiritual or self-improvement purposes such as Bible-reading, prayer and communing with God.
The naming of facilities within the Center reflects a return to Doshisha’s founding ideal of Christian principles and the true spirit of Joseph Hardy Neesima.
