Part-time Work

Part-time Work

Students engage in part-time work for various reasons, such as to help pay tuition fees or expenses for studying abroad, or to supplement expenses for entertainment or transportation. Part-time work provides students with many benefits. For example, they learn the value of money and how to interact with a wide range of different people. On the other hand, part-time work may have a negative effect on students’ health and studies, especially if the job involves long hours or a lot of stress. The Department of Student Support Services strives to help students find an appropriate part-time job that strikes a healthy balance between study and work. One notable short-term temporary position which is unique to Kyoto is participation in a costume procession as part of the Jidai Matsuri, a festival held every October.
