Counseling

The Counseling Center assists each individual student in leading a richer and more productive life on campus.
Please feel free to consult us.

About requesting reasonable accomodations for students with mental disabilities:
From April 2021, the service for reasonable accommodation application has been centralized, and 、the Student Diversity Accessibility Support Office (the SDA Office) has become the service center.

If you would like to apply for accommodation related to mental / developmental issues, please contact the SDA Office.

For example ...

  • Learning issues, etc.
  • Interpersonal relationships, personality, relationships with the opposite sex, etc.
  • Psychological concerns, mental and physical health, etc.
  • Concerns about, proficiency, aptitude, skill set, etc.
  • Neurodevelopmental issues, etc.

How to arrange a consultation

  • Please visit us at the Counseling Center.
  • Fill in an "Counseling Card" at the reception, and make an appointment.
  • You are welcome to bring friends or family members along.
  • It is also possible to make an appointment by telephone.

Counseling sessions

  • Counseling is by appointment only.
    Please make an appointment by visiting the Counseling Center, or by telephone.
  • Counseling is available from 10:30, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00.
    In Kyotanabe campus, you can get counseling in English on Wednesdays, and in Imadegawa campus, you can do it on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • As a rule, counseling sessions run for a maximum of 50 minutes each. It is possible to continue these sessions as many times as desired or needed.
    ※ You can get counseling face to face or remotely (phone/WEB). If you prefer remote counseling, please let us know in advance.
  • Depending on the nature of the matters discussed, we can also introduce you to other appropriate persons or organizations.
  • The content of all counseling sessions is kept strictly confidential.
  • Counseling sessions are free of charge.

Regarding COVID19 pandemic

In light of COVID-19, our opening hours of the reception may change following guidelines of Doshisha University.

To make an appointment, you can either call or visit the Counseling Center.
It will be easier for you to make an appointment in English when English speaking counselor is at the office. Please check the time below.

Our office hours are 9a.m. to 5p.m., Monday through Friday with the office closed for lunch from 11:30a.m. to 12:30p.m..

※Please tell the receptionist whether you want to have a counseling session on the phone or in-person. Remote Consultation (using Teams) is also available for ongoing clients when appropriate.
※Please wear your mask and use hand sanitizer we provide at the reception desk.
※Measure your body temperature before you come to the Center.
