ResponsibilitiesThe department seeks a junior scholar who is a committed researcher and an exceptional teacher. The successful candidate will teach classes in either educational anthropology or educational psychology, as well as more general education classes including “freshman seminar” and “junior-senior seminar.” Teaching at the graduate level will eventually be expected. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to help direct the department’s international programs, organizing and conducting overseas study tours on an annual or biannual basis.
Qualifications
  1. A commitment to the principles of the university and the objectives of the department.
  2. A PhD in Anthropology, Psychology, Education, or a related discipline.
  3. Teaching experience
  4. Fluency in both Japanese and English, being able to work and teach in either language.

  2. Copies of three academic publications that represent your academic expertise.
  3. A statement explaining your philosophy of education and research objectives (in Japanese, about 1200 characters).
  4. Two references.
Application ProcessApplicants who pass the first screening will be invited to attend an interview (and provide a teaching demonstration) at Doshisha University’s Imadegawa (Shinmachi) Campus in Kyoto. Interviews will be conducted late September 2017. (Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses.)
