CISMOR seminar series (no.5/2022)

CISMORリサーチフェロー研究会(ユダヤ学部門)
第5回「「シオン/エルサレム/聖地」観の再検討:聖書テキストから今日に至るまで」

Topics:

And the Lord your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it (Deut. 30:5) : The Land of Israel in Rabbinic Literature

Lecturer:

Dr. Hanan Mazeh

The Berkowitz Research Fellow, New York University School of Law

This lecture examines different models in rabbinic literature to define the Land of Israel in halakhic terms, as they appear in classical rabbinic literature from the first centuries CE. By looking closely at some rabbinic sources, the lecture traces several interpretative and conceptual developments within the Palestinian rabbinic corpus itself – from the Mishnah to the Tosefta and the Palestinian Talmud – with regard to the territory and how it is regulated.

This seminar is conducted in English. No interpretation.

Organized by CISMOR
Co-organized:
