2018 UNO-JAPAN: Study at Doshisha University – Imadegawa Campus

Updated Aug. 21, 2018
For 5 weeks starting from May 28th to June 29th, UNO-JAPAN: Study at Doshisha University 2018 was held at Imadegawa Campus. This year was our 10th year anniversary of this UNO-JAPAN program. At the anniversary welcome party, we got to look back at our 10 years history by watching a slideshow created with pictures taken since year of 2008 and learned many of the past participants have established networks and friendships that last a lifetime.

The University of New Orleans (referred as UNO hereafter) is a state university located in the biggest city in Louisiana, USA which is one of the most popular sightseeing resorts in USA. They are also well known as the birthplace of jazz music. We had 17 students who studied Japanese History, Religion, Film and Anime/ Manga by using Doshisha facilities.

Doshisha students also played an important role as“Tomodachi Partners”. They worked very hard and tried to expand their views or values by communicating with the UNO students. They also helped the UNO students feel what it’s like to be a student in Japan or in Kyoto.
Moreover, the UNO students had cultural experiences to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture. Special thanks to Kendo club, Shodo (calligraphy) club at Doshisha University, and to Kado (flower arrangement) club at Doshisha Women’s University of Liberal Arts.

At the Farewell party held on the last day of the program, we enjoyed the slideshow that are full of memorable pictures and movies taken during this program and janken(rock-paper-scissors) game, and closed the program with lots of smiles.
