To Students,
As of the 2018 academic year, Doshisha University currently provides the following services to students under the “Assistance Fund for Medical and Other Fees,” which was established with the residual assets of the university’s former mutual aid association called the “Student Health Program” (formed in October 1956 and dissolved in March 2000).
However, it has become apparent that the investment income of the “Assistance Fund for Medical and Other Fees” is considerably less than initially projected at the time of establishment, and continue to be significantly below the cost of part 1 of the above services, which consequently left us no choice but to consider terminating the services.
After careful consideration, it is our regret to announce that the university has decided to terminate the services provided under the Doshisha University Assistance Fund for Medical and Other Fees at the end of the 2018 academic year. The respective services will be treated as follows.
The Doshisha University Assistance Fund for Medical and Other Fees will be integrated into the Doshisha University Scholarship Fund and used as financial aid for students who have difficulty paying tuition.

However, the cost for a secondary examination taken at the Health Center for the purpose of checking an abnormal finding detected at the annual health examination for students will continued to be borne by the university. - Dental checkup and anti-smoking education will be continued in the 2019 academic year and beyond.
- Support for the activities of the student group Doshisha Health Association, such as healthcare enlightenment for students, will be terminated at the end of the 2018 academic year.
Among the activities conducted by the student group, lectures and blood donation will continue to be held by the university.
