Report: “Discover Takarazuka” (presented by SIED)

Updated Dec. 9, 2019
On November 23rd (Sat), SIED hosted “Discover Takarazuka” with the cooperation of Takarazuka-City, and 26 international students joined the event.
Takarazuka Revue is a unique musical company which is composed of only female actresses. All characters, even male roles, are played by female actresses. The performance of a leading male role actress looked as if she was a real man. In addition to various stories, you can also enjoy gorgeous revue.
This time we watched a musical “El Japón” and a revue “Aquavite” played by Cosmos troupe. "El Japon" is a story of a samurai going to Spain as an ambassador in Edo period. The main point of this musical is his romantic love story with a Spanish woman. The audience could not take their eyes off the performance. “Aquavite” is a show which theme is mature and deep-flavored whiskey. Their stylish dances and cool songs attracted not only the participants but SIED staff. Sometimes the star went down to the seats from the stage, and interacted with audience. Some participants said that “the male role was cooler than the real men!”, “not only the story but dancing and singing were great”.
SIED will host various kinds of interesting events in the future. Please feel free to join us!
