Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (No. 3 Notice)

Amid the increase in the number of people infected with Covid-19, all parties in society as a whole are taking action with a view to preventing the further spread of infection.
We at Doshisha University decided to cancel our Graduation and Conferral of Degree Ceremony on February 27 and our Convocation Ceremony on March 5. In my capacity as Director of the Risk Management Headquarters, I sent the “Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (No. 2 Notice)” on March 6.
On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed its perception of the worldwide spread of Covid-19, stating that it “could be characterized as a pandemic.” It also called upon all countries to reinforce their measures to counter it.
The situation therefore demands efforts to prevent any further spread of infection. In light of the impact on not only the health of our students, teachers, and staff but also society at large, we consequently judged that movement of many people and their gathering under one roof should be avoided as far as possible.

In response, for the purpose of preventing the spread of infection, we decided to have in-class lectures (including lectures in labs, offices, etc.) begin on April 21 (Tues.), although there will be no change in the school calendar for the spring semester and classes will start on April 7 (Tues.).
For details on registration for courses and implementation of instruction, please check separate notices and the websites of the concerned faculties and graduate schools.
