Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (No. 6 Notice)

The spread of infection with Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) shows no signs of abating both around the world and within Japan. In this situation, there have emerged cases that suggest there could possibly be a cluster (group of infected persons) in the city of Kyoto. In response, on March 29 (Sun.), 2020, Kyoto Municipal Government issued an emergency request* to universities and junior colleges in the city for prevention of the further spread of infection. In the proposals released by the Novel Coronavirus Expert Meeting on March 19, 2020, it was pointed out that members of the younger generation could unknowingly be playing a major role in the spread of infection because they are liable not to have any symptoms even if they catch the disease.

In light of the need to avoid the further spread of infection, we at Doshisha University came to the conclusion that we must make even more strenuous efforts to prevent the spread of Covid 19, not only out of concern for the health of our students and staff, but also in keeping with our obligations as members of the local community.

For this reason, we decided to partially revise "Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (Notice No. 3)" released on March 18 and to have in-class lectures (including lectures in labs, offices, etc.) begin on May 12 (Tues.). While there will be no change in the school calendar for the spring semester and classes along with this step, there will be a change in the schedule for course registration. We will make a separate notification of the details of this change.
