Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (No. 8 Notice)

In light of the spread of infection with the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Japanese government has declared a state of emergency, and Kyoto Prefectural Government has requested its citizens to refrain from going outdoors for non-essential purposes and from traveling to the seven prefectures under the state of emergency. In response, we at Doshisha University notified all concerned of our decision to take the measures of restricting entry into our campuses and closing university counters until May 11, and of our policy on the form of lectures beginning on May 12, in “Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (No. 7 Notice)" dated April 9.
The Japanese government has since decided to extend the state of emergency declaration to May 31. We have consequently decided to take the following measures even after May 11, in order to protect the health and safety of our students, staffs, and all other concerned persons, with top priority on preventing the further spread of infection.
We ask for your understanding of the reasons behind our implementation of these measures and your cooperation with them.
Please note that, even during the period of implementation, these measures are subject to change separately, based on national policy, requests from Kyoto Prefectural Government, etc.

Measures etc.

1.Measures to be implemented
(1)Restriction of entry into the university campuses
During the period in question, we shall limit the gates through which passage will be permitted on all Doshisha campuses and prohibit students (including non-degree students, auditors, and students of other statuses) from entering, as a general rule.
*
In cases in which entry is both necessary and urgently needed, we shall permit entry by the smallest requisite number of students. In such cases, please obtain advance permission from the dean of the faculty or graduate school to which you belong, and fill out the prescribed form on the nature of your business, scope of action, and other items at the gate when you enter the campus.

(2)Closure of university counters (including the library)
We shall close all the counters in the university.
*
Although the counters will be closed, inquiries etc. will be accepted by e-mail and telephone(except Saturday and Sunday). Please note that we have asked our clerical staff as well to work at home or in separate rooms in order to prevent the spread of infection. We regret any inconvenience that this setup may cause you, and request your understanding of it.

Period of implementation
  • May 12 (Tues.) - 31 (Sun.), 2020

2.Policy on the form of lectures beginning on May 12
There has been no change in the information presented in “Doshisha University Action in Response to Novel Coronavirus Infection (No. 7 Notice).”
