Report: “Let's Learn About Japanese Archaeology!” (presented by SIED)

Updated Dec. 22, 2020
17th December (Thurs.), SIED hosted “Let’s Learn Japanese Archaeology!” at the International Community Lounge, Kyotanabe Campus. In this event, participants got to learn about Jomon Era, for example, the lifestyle of the people and the defining traits of the era. After that, our guest speaker, Mr. Kunihiko Wakabayashi, a professor from the Doshisha Historical Museum, personally taught the participants how to make Jomon-Gentai, a tool for decorating Jomon pottery.
Participants were provided with a variety of ropes and strings to make their own imitation of the Jomon decorations. It was a difficult challenge, even with the guidance of a professor. However, the participants were able to overcome it and made some splendid decorations. Participants even took the initiative to ask in-depth questions and learn more about the Jomon Era. Overall, the participants not only had an interesting experience, but also an enjoyable time interacting with the each other.
SIED has a variety of other events, so please join us! We look forward to your participation,
