The Doshisha has decided to participate in the government’s workplace vaccination program with the hope of cooperating in reducing the burden of vaccination on the local community and accelerating vaccination, as well as protecting the health of and ensuring safe and secure school environment for our students, faculty and staff. So far, we have requested to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare for the number of doses that can vaccinate all students, faculty and staff in The Doshisha, and organized the following vaccination system with the cooperation of medical institutions, healthcare workers, business operators and our employees.
However, as reported in the media, the Japanese government has temporarily suspended accepting applications for workplace vaccination as of June 25 due to the supply shortage of vaccines caused by the sudden increase of applications for workplace vaccination. The government will carefully examine the quantity of vaccine doses needed for workplace vaccination and review its distribution plan, and in consequence the vaccine supply from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare may be limited and/or delayed for the time being.
While it has been confirmed so far that The Doshisha will receive a supply of 900 doses for Imadegawa and 1,000 doses for Kyotanabe vaccination sites respectively, no further supply schedule or quantity is announced at the time of writing.
In response to the current situation, we have arranged individual IDs for vaccination reservation to be e-mailed to eligible members of the university community via their university-provided e-mail addresses in stages as shown in the schedule below, starting from June 28 (Mon). Those who wish to be vaccinated at Doshisha University will need to individually access the reservation system indicated in the e-mail message after receiving it and make an appointment for the vaccination site and date of your preference.
Additional doses are expected to be supplied by week, and we will keep the reservation system updated with more vaccination dates as soon as we know the number of doses delivered each week.
We apologize for the inconvenience and would appreciate your kind understanding of this difficult situation in securing vaccines. If you wish to be vaccinated at Doshisha University, please wait for a while until you receive your reservation ID.
Alternatively, those of you who have already received the vaccine voucher from your local municipality can choose to receive shots at your family doctor, your local vaccination site or the large-scale vaccination site. Please check the vaccine availability and schedule by yourself and choose the vaccination site that suits you.
Lastly, vaccination is voluntary and non-mandatory, and personal information handled in the process of workplace vaccination will be managed appropriately and used only within the scope necessary for the said purpose.
