Report: "Let's make 'Norigae', the beautiful Korean ornament!" (presented by SIED)

Updated Jul. 30, 2021
SIED hosted "Let's make 'Norigae', the beautiful Korean ornament!" on July 7th (Wed.) and we had 10 participants! In this event we broke them up into smaller groups. The purpose of this event was to promote intercultural exchange between local students and international students through making "Norigae" that is a traditional Korean craft.

First of all, for self-introduction and ice break, we asked a Korean student to write the participants' names in Korean letters on the pieces of paper and made them as name tags. After that, the SIED staff gave an introductory presentation for Norigae, and everyone learned what Norigae was.

And they started making Norigae. This time we used materials imported from South Korea. They made Norigaewhile having fun conversation!
While they were making the ornaments, it was exciting about the topic like "Which country do you want to go to when COVID-19 ends?" or the international students' home countries! And the each work of Norigaethey made was very original and beautiful and they seemed happy.
We all were happy to hear that they had fun time after the event. Thank you to everyone who participated even though the exam was just around the corner.

We, SIED will hold a lot of events for next semester under COVID-19 infection prevention, so please look forward to seeing you again!
