Doshisha University Action in Response to the Implementation of Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures in Kyoto Prefecture【No. 16 Notice】

Emergency Task Force

 Kyoto Prefecture implements the Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures during the period from August 2 (Mon) to August 31 (Tue).
 Accordingly, Doshisha University takes the following measures during the period of implementation of the Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures.
 During the period of implementation of the Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures, this No. 16 Notice prevails “Doshisha University Guidelines for Preventing Spread of Infection of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) (4th Edition)” and the “Guide to Preventing Spread of Infection of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)” (hereinafter collectively “Guidelines”). For matters not specified in No. 16 Notice, please follow the Guidelines as before.
 If the period of implementation of the Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures is extended, these measures of Doshisha University will continue until its end. This No. 16 Notice will be abolished at the end of the period of implementation of the Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures, after which activities of the university will be conducted in accordance with the above-mentioned Guidelines.

1.Entry into Campus
  • Unnecessary and non-urgent entry of outside visitors (excluding those entering for vaccination) are not permitted.
  • Only major gates on each campus will be open. Other gates such as side gates will be closed.

2.Final Examinations and Classes
  • There are no changes to the examination plans for the Spring Semester Final Examinations.
  • Students taking courses that are held during the affected period (intensive courses, etc) should follow the instructions of the respective course instructors.

3.Extracurricular Activities
  • It is recommended that online services be utilized concurrently for extracurricular activities.
  • It is requested that participation in activities held outside of Kyoto Prefecture be refrained from.
  • Student groups affiliated with Gakuyudan and groups registered with the Student Support Services Center that intend to engage in extracurricular activities during the above-mentioned period are required to submit the details of their activities, their plans to prevent infection and their pledge to comply with such plans to the Student Support Services Center in advance and obtain the Center’s permission. Student groups engaging in extracurricular activities without permission or beyond the permitted extent will be subject to a separate action.
  • Not limited to the above groups, all students are requested to refrain from engaging in activities in groups, including activities of voluntary student groups not registered with the university and friends’ gatherings.

4.Events and Academic Conferences on Campus
  • It is recommended that open courses and lectures that are open to public be conducted online.
  • All university facilities (including those not used for classes) will be unavailable for use by outside organizations. For existing bookings during the period of implementation of the Stronger COVID-19 Preventive Measures, the event organizers will be notified of cancellation except for those that cannot be cancelled.
  • As for events and ceremonies hosted by the university, only essential and unavoidable ones shall be held and with a minimum number of attendants.
  • Details on facility closures and event cancellations will be announced separately by the respective organizers on their websites etc.

5.The following acts are prohibited.
  • Talking without a mask
  • Drinking alcohol and staying overnight at a friend’s apartment or dormitory
  • Partying, gathering with a large group and dining with people before and after that
  • Visiting restaurants or bars outside of their requested business hours
