Attended the 20th Anniversary Gathering of the Doshisha University Faculty of Social Studies
On November 8th, the Doshisha University Faculty of Social Studies held its 20th Anniversary Gathering. I attended the opening symposium and delivered congratulatory remarks.
The Faculty of Social Studies was established and reorganized from the Faculty of Letters in 2005, marking a new chapter in its history.
During the commemorative symposium, Professor Yasuhiro Kuroki, the first Dean of the Faculty of Social Studies and now Professor Emeritus, gave a keynote lecture titled “Reflections and Prospects for Doshisha University's Faculty of Social Studies: Looking Back on 20 Years Since Establishment and Envisioning the Future.” He shared his thoughts on the founding of the faculty.
This was followed by a roundtable discussion called “Expectations for the Future of the Faculty of Social Studies,” which included current faculty members.
The symposium was well-attended, mainly by those who have entered or graduated from the Faculty of Social Studies since 2005. It offered a great opportunity to reflect on the past two decades and look ahead.
I hope the Faculty of Social Studies continues to thrive and that many of its graduates achieve success in their respective fields.
