Cheering at the All Japan Figure Skating Championships
Numerous members of the Doshisha University community participated in the 94th All Japan Figure Skating Championships (December 19-21, Yoyogi National Stadium).
On December 21, the third day of the competition, I visited Yoyogi National Stadium to cheer on the skaters alongside alums from our university's Figure Skating Club and members of the Sports Union.
Our university's Figure Skating Club athletes, Sumitada Moriguchi (Pairs: with Yuna Nagaoka) and Masaya Morita (Ice Dance: with Utana Yoshida), won gold medals in the Pairs and Ice Dance categories, respectively. Congratulations!
For me, seeing figure skating live for the first time brought a level of excitement that was completely different from watching it on TV. Regardless of the results, I offer my heartfelt respect to all the athletes who participated. Witnessing their fierce competition firsthand was not only moving but also deeply inspiring.
I wish every participant in this competition the very best in their future endeavors.
