On May 7, I gave a lecture at Keio University’s Mita Campus for the Faculty of Economics course “Creating New Welfare Values Through Public-Private Partnerships” (a lecture series sponsored by Kokumin Kyosai co-op). This marks my third time teaching this course. I spoke for about 70 minutes on my lecture theme, “The Evolution of ‘Public’ and ‘Private’ and New Challenges Brought by AI: An Ethical Perspective on Dignity, Society, and the Environment.” The remaining 20 minutes were dedicated to a Q&A session with the students, moderated by Professor Kohei Komamura, who is in charge of this course. Thanks to the students’ insightful questions, we were able to delve deeper into key issues.

After the lecture, we had lunch in the faculty lounge, joined by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and representatives from Kokumin Kyosai co-op. Afterward, guided by Professor Yamada from the Faculty of Economics, we toured the “Fukuzawa Yukichi Memorial Keio University History Exhibition Hall” (the former Keio University Library, a Designated Important Cultural Property), “Fukuzawa Yukichi’s Final Resting Place,” and the “Mita Speech Hall” (a Designated Important Cultural Property).

It was a fulfilling experience to interact with Keio University students and faculty and to engage with the university’s history.
