Toshinofuji, a graduate of our university (2023 graduate of the School of Theology), was promoted to the Makunouchi division in the new banzuke announced on August 31.

When I went to cheer him on at the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament on July 20, he was competing in the Juryo division. I am reposting a photo of Toshinofuji performing his ring entrance wearing a “Doshisha University” decorative belt. He finished the Nagoya Tournament with a record of 11 wins and 4 losses and will compete in the Makuuchi division at the Autumn Tournament, which begins on September 13.

I wish Toshinofuji continued success.
