President's Daily Report
Meeting with Professor Karin Klingel of the University of Tübingen
On October 14, Professor Karin Klingel of the University of Tübingen visited our university, and I had the opportunity to meet with her.
Professor Klingel, who specializes in cardiac pathology, came to Japan to attend the Doshisha-Tübingen Joint Forum on Spatial Biology 2026, to be held at Doshisha University. Professor Masaya Ikegawa of the Faculty of Life and Medical Sciences and Ms. Okamura, a doctoral student in the Graduate School of Life and Medical Sciences, who are conducting joint research with Professor Klingel, also accompanied her.
During the meeting, we discussed spatial biology, Professor Klingel’s research, and future research collaboration between the University of Tübingen and Doshisha University, and had a fruitful exchange of views.
Doshisha University has an EU Campus on the University of Tübingen’s campus in Germany, and the University of Tübingen’s Doshisha Center for Japanese Studies is located on Doshisha University’s Imadegawa Campus. I hope to continue strengthening our relationship with the University of Tübingen as a valued partner. Next year, the University of Tübingen will celebrate its 550th anniversary. I plan to attend the commemorative ceremony.
Below is a video of my conversation with President Polmann of the University of Tübingen last November.
