[Research News] Role of Media Discourse in Constructing Homogenous Notions of an Inclusive Future

Anya BENSON, Associate Professor at the Center for Global Education, conducted a study analyzing media discourse on the 2017 Wonder Woman film. She points out that these narratives can be seen as an aspect of “popular feminism” relying on a “standardized” approach by describing cathartic feelings. These testimonies also expect positive influence on the future generations, however, normalize one specific emotional response.
