[Important Notice] Use of Generative AI in Reports Submitted as Final Examinations
When you engage proactively in report writing, the process of researching independently, selecting and evaluating information, thinking critically, and articulating your ideas in writing is expected to help you develop essential academic skills. The inappropriate use of generative AI in report preparation makes it difficult to accurately evaluate learning outcomes, undermines fair grading, and may even lead to unintended legal issues, such as copyright infringement.
At the same time, generative AI has become widely integrated into society. When used appropriately, it can support your learning process and even accelerate and broaden your intellectual exploration.
Accordingly, as of April 2026, the section “Academic Regulations” in the Course Registration Guide is revised as follows:
- For reports submitted as final examinations, you must follow the instructions of the course instructor regarding the use of generative AI.
- Failure to do so may result in the Faculty Council recognizing the act as academic misconduct and imposing disciplinary action in accordance with faculty regulations.
If any act listed under section (2), items a through e, occurs through the use of generative AI, it may be considered academic misconduct. For example, if a report created with generative AI does not clearly identify quoted content or include source citations, it falls under item a. and may be regarded as misconduct.
*The same rules may apply to other forms of assessment in addition to reports submitted as final examinations. Be sure to follow the instructions provided by the course instructor in all cases.
